Fact-checking policy

Licence rules and fees affect real money and real legal duties, so every page on Sarathi Portal Guide follows these rules.

  • Official sources first: the Motor Vehicles Act 1988 and its amendments, the Central Motor Vehicles Rules 1989, the Motor Vehicles (Driving) Regulations 2017, gazette notifications, PIB releases and the official Parivahan, Sarathi and state transport websites.
  • No guessing: if we cannot confirm a fact from an official source, we leave it out or say that it differs by state.
  • Sources on every page: each guide lists the official pages it relies on and the date we last checked them.
  • News is labelled: time-limited offers such as fine discount drives are described as past news with their dates, never as current offers unless the official notice says so.
  • Independent: we are not a government body and say so on every page.
