Parivahan Rajasthan covers everything from your first learning licence to downloading your e-DL. Licences are issued by the Transport and Road Safety Department, Government of Rajasthan, whose website transport.rajasthan.gov.in publishes unusually detailed instructions, including file sizes for uploads and the exact size of an L-plate.
This page is written by an independent guide, not the department. It summarises the department's published rules and links to the official pages so you can check them yourself.
Two doors to the same system: the state site and Sarathi
The department says you can start a learning licence application from its own site, using the "Apply Online For New Learning Licence" option, or from parivahan.gov.in through Online Services and Sarathi. Both lead to Sarathi, where you select Rajasthan. As of 16 October 2026, Rajasthan is on Sarathi's list of states with online licence services.
The department's LL page says online LL applications are accepted only at the RTO, DTO and sub-offices listed on that page. Check that your office is on the list before you apply.
Learning licence Rajasthan: the office route, step by step
- Fill the form online. Complete the LL application on Sarathi.
- Upload documents. Grayscale scans, under 1 MB each, in JPG, JPEG or PDF.
- Upload photo and signature. About 10 to 20 KB each.
- Book the LL test slot.
- Pay. Online, or in cash at the office.
- Arrive 15 minutes early. Bring your original documents.
- Take the test on a kiosk. The test is on a touch-screen kiosk at the office, using a PIN and an SMS password.
- Collect the LL. The office issues the LL when you pass.
Under central rules the pass mark is 60 per cent. Prepare with our LL mock test and the learning licence guide.
Faceless DL services in Rajasthan
The department lists these faceless services, all linking to Sarathi's state selection:
- Learning licence issuance
- Duplicate DL
- DL renewal
- Change of address on DL
- International Driving Permit (IDP)
- Surrender of a class of vehicle (COV)
Faceless LL issuance is listed, but we did not find a department page saying the LL test can be taken from home in Rajasthan, so we do not claim that. Sarathi will show the options open to you.
LL validity, L plates and applying for the permanent DL
The Rajasthan LL is valid for 6 months, and you can apply for the permanent DL 30 days after the LL is issued. Apply before the LL expires; an expired LL cannot be used.
While learning, the department's rule is a red "L" on a white background, front and rear, with letters at least 10 cm high, 2 cm thick and 9 cm wide at the base.
The department's site also lists an "Automated Driving Test Track" page and a "Driving Licence Punch Information" e-service, but we could not extract their details. For the DL steps and test, see driving licence online apply.
Rajasthan driving licence download: e-DL only since 1 April 2024
From 1 April 2024, Rajasthan issues only the e-DL and e-RC. Smart cards are not issued, and the ₹200 smart card fee does not apply. The department says the e-DL is legally valid.
- Download the print from Parivahan, or
- Get it printed at an e-Mitra centre or e-Mitra Plus machine (a fee is charged there; the department does not state the amount).
You can also keep it in DigiLocker or mParivahan. More in our driving licence download guide.

DL renewal, status and check in Rajasthan
Renew from one year before expiry to one year after; renewal is a faceless service in Rajasthan. Form 1A is needed if you are 40 or older or hold a transport licence. Track any application on Sarathi through Apply Online, then Application Status. To check an existing DL, the official route asks for your DL number and date of birth.
Guides: driving licence renewal, DL status and online DL check.
For help, the department lists a nodal officer, ATC (IT), phone 141-2850605.
